Already Read It! : A "Novel" Game 17

Can you guess the title and author of the novel depicted in the picture?

DIFFICULTY : Easy

CLUE : This tale is easy to "sink your teeth into" but can you name the tale's original author who first compiled the legend into book form?

Back in high school, I took a date to a modern film version of this horror tale, and although I loved the actors, I believe I was just too young to comprehend the complicated themes and subtle nuances involved in this classic tale, watered down by commercialism and societal overuse; however, when older I perused the pages of this novel with enthusiasm and zest, soaking it in like a dry sponge, amazed and almost aghast at how modern times has deformed the main message and universal question: Just because we may need to for survival, or we can, should we? or should we search for alternatives?
