Already Read It! : A "Novel" Game 19

Can you guess the title and author of the novel depicted in the picture?

DIFFICULTY : Medium

CLUE : The sweetness of Little Eva will always be remembered by her "uncle" and this avid reader.

Besides finding this novel a wonderful and pleasant read, and realizing the need for its message at the time it was published, this novel also lends itself to my favorite part of Rodgers' and Hammerstein's musical The King and I. When Tuptim, acting as narrator, presents her ballet to the distinguished guests, she uses the plot of this novel, a novel Anna has had the children read during their tutoring sessions. The ballet within this musical is beautiful and very memorable for the cultural adaption of the novel's story line as well as the performers' dancing, costumes, the piece's music, and the narration by Tuptim. I would pay to see this mini-ballet within a musical as a stand-alone production.
